The Boston Bruins Look To Sweep the Philadelphia Flyers out of the NHL playoffs
The Boston Bruins Look To Sweep the Philadelphia Flyers out of the NHL playoffsThe Boston Bruins have been in this spot before and they are not going to hold back.

The goal for the Bruins heading into Game 3 was easy to express. "We have to get back to our game. Simple as that," Claude Julien said on the off day. "I think we got away from it, and that's what allowed them to have a lot more pace than they had in the previous game or in the first couple periods."

The Bruins certainly got back to their game. Zdeno Chara scored 30 seconds in and David Krejci scored 33 seconds later. Daniel Paille and Nathan Horton finished off Flyers goaltender Brian Boucher, and Chara, who also had an assist, then scored a late power play goal to close the scoring. Yes, a power play goal, the Bruins' first of these playoffs. Tim Thomas was again strong in goal, making 37 saves.

Is there anyone out there who thinks lightning could strike the Bruins twice? Can the B's, who last year became the third team in NHL history to blow a 3-0 playoffs lead before losing in seven games, do it again? Against the same team. It sure doesn't look very likely. OK, it didn't look likely last year, but this just has a different feel to it. It seems as if the Flyers are done.

But the Bruins are taking nothing for granted as they head into Game 4 Friday night.

The B's have scored 15 goals in winning the first three games of this series, against a team that has had almost no goaltending, a team that has its top players banged up. Now, Boston tries to wrap it up without having to go back to Philly.

Remember, though, the win over the Canadiens in Game 7 of the first round lifted the Bruins' record in potential clinching games to just 3-8, so the chance of not sweeping is there. But this just looks so different.

The Boston Bruins have the collapse of a year ago fresh in their minds and they will make sure it does not happen again with a resounding win.
