NHL Wednesday: Winnipeg vs. Toronto
NHL Wednesday: Winnipeg vs. TorontoWith only game on the NHL schedule on Wednesday night, the Winnipeg vs. Toronto game will be the one to watch. The latest NHL hockey betting odds can be found at top rated online sportsbook, Bet Phoenix.

Winnipeg was outscored 13-5 in losing its first three games after relocating from Atlanta but finally ended the drought with a 2-1 home victory over Pittsburgh on Monday. Kyle Wellwood and Tanner Glass each scored in the first period, and Ondrej Pavelec kept that lead intact while stopping 28 shots.

One of those areas in which the Jets (1-3-0) must improve is the power play, having gone 0 for 17 thus far.

Winnipeg now heads east to renew a pair of Canadian rivalries, visiting Toronto (3-0-1) and Ottawa on back-to-back nights.

While the Jets celebrated a milestone win Monday, Toronto was denied its second 4-0 start in as many seasons. The Leafs fell 3-2 in overtime to Colorado despite getting another goal from Phil Kessel.

Kessel scored for the sixth time in three games during the opening minute of the second period, and Nikolai Kulemin tallied the tying goal with 4:43 remaining in regulation. James Reimer let in the winning goal 1:11 into the extra period for his first loss in four starts.

With the Maple Leafs also set to play on consecutive nights - they visit Boston on Thursday - Reimer could get a break soon. Jonas Gustavsson, who has yet to play this season, is 1-2-0 with a 3.30 goals-against average in three games against the former Atlanta Thrashers, while Reimer is 1-0-0 with a 1.64 GAA in three appearances.

Pavelec missed that game with a wrist injury, and Winnipeg may want to keep him out of this matchup considering his 4.01 GAA versus the Leafs is his second-worst against any opponent he’s faced more than twice. He’s 3-3-1 against them.

That could prompt coach Claude Noel to give Chris Mason his second start of the season. Mason, who gave up four goals in Phoenix on Saturday, is 2-1-0 with a 1.66 GAA in three starts versus Toronto.

This game will be entertaining as the NHL season heats up again and the puck is dropped on what is sure to be one of the best seasons in the history of the NHL.
