Brad Keselowski steadily improved his finish at Charlotte, starting with a 34th-place result in 2006 and culminating with his win last season. The win moved Keselowski closer to clinching the 2010 Nationwide Series championship, which he accomplished just two races later in Texas.

Keselowski ran the final 56 laps around the 1.5-mile Charlotte track without pitting. With old tires, he managed to hold off Martin Truex Jr. after two late-race restarts for his fifth win of the season and the 11th of his Nationwide career. Keselowski led 46 laps, including the final 35, as he finished 1.14 seconds ahead of Truex.

Keselowski, who will defend his title this week, captured last week's race in Kansas City, leading 173 of the 200 laps for his 16th career win.

With just four races remaining, Ricky Stenhouse Jr leads the points list. Stenhouse, who has not finished inside the top-10 in two fall starts at Charlotte, owns a 20-point advantage over Elliott Sadler. Stenhouse has held his own down the stretch with five straight top-10 finishes.

In 2009 Kyle Busch outran Mike Bliss in the final laps to defend his title in the Dollar General 300 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Busch, who started fifth, led three times for 137 laps, including the final 55 for one of nine victories in that year. Busch completed the '09 Nationwide season with victories in three of the last five races; en route to his first championship in one of NASCAR's three national touring series.

Busch led 137 of 200 laps in the 2008 fall race at Charlotte to claim his 20th career victory in the series. Busch, who started 16th, dominated in the late- stages, as he led all but one of the final 78 laps. He crossed the finish line 0.661 seconds ahead of runner-up Jeff Burton. Jamie McMurray led the first 15 laps and finished ninth.

Jeff Burton claimed the lead on lap 140, and then held it for the remaining 60 circuits to capture his 26th career Nationwide Series title in October 2007 at Charlotte. Greg Biffle started on the pole, but finished 30th after an accident put him out of the event. Biffle led six times for 53 laps, while Carl Edwards ran in front three separate times for a total of 60 laps. Burton finished 1.598 seconds ahead of Kyle Busch.

In 2006, Dave Blaney picked up his first win in the series after surviving a wild one in the fall race at Charlotte. Blaney, who started 23rd, took the lead for the first time on Lap 198. But a late-race caution setup a green- white-checkered finish. Kenseth passed Blaney for the lead just after the final restart. The two were running side-by-side, as they saw the white flag. They continued to run at an even pace until Kenseth got loose and spun in the third turn of the last lap. While Blaney took the checkered flag under caution, Kenseth wound up finishing fourth. Carl Edwards started on the pole and led a race-high 123 laps, but Edwards finished a disappointing 27th due to a late-race accident.

Ryan Newman held off Elliott Sadler at the finish to win the 2005 race. Newman, who started second, led a race-high 133 laps. He beat Sadler by just 0.314 seconds to claim his sixth career victory in the series. Jimmie Johnson started on the pole, but Johnson failed to finish the race due to an accident.

The pole sitter has won this race just four times, and not since Matt Kenseth did it in 2000. Harry Gant started 33rd and won the 1991 race, which is the furthest a driver has started and won a Nationwide event at Charlotte.

Eight of the last 11 winners have been won from the top-10. In fact, only nine of the 29 Charlotte winners have started outside the top-10.
