| Redbulls takes Spain |
Webber won the race to the first corner as Vettel tucked into second place ahead of Lewis Hamilton and Fernando Alonso, and steadily set the pace as he pulled away. By the time they had all made their first pit stops, Webber was more than ten seconds ahead of Hamilton, who had out fumbled Vettel in the tire changes. Schumacher got held up waiting for Alonso to come by to his pit, and then Hamilton went one lap longer than Red Bull had expected. As Lewis rejoined, Sebastian was heading for the outside line into turn one, but as Hamilton had to jinks round which was hugging the inside line to let them go, Vettel had to run wide into the run-off area and that closed Hamilton’s position. While Webber stood strong at the front, Hamilton drove like a maniac to keep Vettel at bay, while further back Alonso established himself in a fourth ahead of a three-way scrap for fifth between Michael Schumacher and Jenson Button (who had lost out to the German in the stops) and Felipe Massa. While there was always the fear that something might happen out of these groups, there wasn’t much action as stalemates set in, and it was not until Vettel ran wide in the Turn 7 on the 54th lap that things got hot. Vettel made a pit stop at the end of the lap for a fresh set of soft tires, but thereafter never set the pace that might have been expected, suggesting that his RB6’s handling problems were more serious than worn rubber. It transpired that the balance was never good, and that subsequently the brakes had lost their edge. He was very fortunate to drop only to fourth behind Fernando Alonso, and another slice of fortune awaited him as, 10 laps later, Hamilton’s left front tire gave up and sent him into the wall in Turn number 3. That was a bitter blow for the Englishman, after a fantastic drive in which he had really taken the fight to the Red Bulls. In a nutshell: Jeson Button still the leader with 70 points and 2 wins in the current campaign, Fernando Alonso hold the second position in the championship with 67 points and a powerful machine that could get him his third championship of his career in the Formula One organization. Sebastien Vettel and the RB6 holds third place with 60 points and just 7 points away is his teammate Mark Webber in fourth place with 53 points. Nico Rosberg gets in the group with 53 points for a fifth place as Hamilton and Massa in sixth and seventh place both hold 49 points. Michael Schumacher is coming to life and accumulates point’s puts him in 9th place with 22 points as he appears to get comfy behind the wheel of his Mercedes GP. In 10th place we have Adrian Sutil with 16 points yet not the worst campaign. Next meet Monaco Grand Prix 2010 this coming 16 of May in Monte Carlo where Fernando Alonso seems to be the favorite to win the race and also there is a great possibility for Schumacher to make a comeback and jump on the leaderboard.
