World Cup On The Go
World CupThe World cup 2010 kicked off with a marvelous opening spectacle and a jam packed stadium.

First game in the agenda; the home team South Africa faced Mexico who came out on the field to execute in their 5th Inaugural game in their World Cups history

The game started with both teams being conservative, but Mexico became the aggressive side with constant drives that eventually lead to a goal 38 minutes into the game that was disqualify by the line referee, calling it “outside” which was major mistake on the judge’s behalf, as the goal was legit. Mexico continued controlling the game but with fruitless attempts. Tshabalala scored for the African team 55 minutes into the game with a powerful diagonal shot that overpowered Perez and the local team takes the lead 1-0.

Mexico refused to take a loss and they became more aggressive, Aguirre makes the move and calls in Cuauhtémoc Blanco to replace Vela and eventually Chicharito Hernandez to replace Franco, shortly after that Mexico scores via Marquez and makes the game even. The Mexican defense seemed null in the last 20 minutes near the end of the match which allowed a lone ¡MPHELA to take a shot only to be repelled by the post. Mexico continued to press for the kill but the game came to an end.

Not a bad inaugural game, but one always expects a little more, Mexico needs to work on the defense in order to allow the midfield and strikers a bit more confidence, they do have the potential for greatness and enough guts to be any opponents headache.

South Africa, “NOT GOOD” to my taste; they did not do a good job at all; they did not enforced their home advantage, their strength and speed. Not bad in the rear but weak in the middle, but the most disappointing of all was their lack of precision in the striking zone. For their sake I hope they watch this game and take notes so they can do a better job on the next games or this will be a short lived tournament.

The host team will face Uruguay the 16th at Tshwane/Pretoria they have 5 days to fine tune their game.

Mexico will face a weak French team on the 17th in Polokwane, hopefully the Mexican team will not take this match lightly as France always finds resources to have the upper “Hand”..
