A win would cement Canada top spot in its group and a berth in the quarter-final round while a loss would leave the team depending on results of other games. Canada would like to have the luxury of controlling its own fate. Panama sits atop Group C after beating both the United States and Guadeloupe and its success has been a surprise to everybody, it seems, except Hart. The Canadians are tied for second with the U.S. with three points, while Guadeloupe is last with none. Canada opened the tournament with a 2-0 loss to the Americans last week in Detroit before bouncing back to beat Guadeloupe 1-0 on Sunday in Tampa. The top two teams in each group move on, along with the best two third-place teams. If the Canadians lose to Panama, they'll have to wait for the results of other games to know if they'll go through. The U.S. concludes Group C play against Guadeloupe following the Canada-Panama game at Livestrong Sporting Park, the new home of Major League Soccer's Sporting Kansas City. The Canadians would get a more favourable quarter-final opponent — likely either Jamaica or Honduras — if they finish in top spot in their group. If they finish second, they would play the group B winner. Both of those quarter-finals would go Sunday in Washington, D.C. If Canada qualified as one of the best third-place teams, it would play Mexico on Saturday in East Rutherford, N.J. On the injury front, defender Marcel de Jong has returned to his club team in Germany after re-aggravating a persistent shoulder injury. He's had a history of dislocating his shoulder and that happened in his sleep the night before the Guadeloupe game. Midfielder Atiba Hutchinson is also dealing with a nagging injury. He missed Monday's training session, remaining at the hotel to work with the team's medical staff. Hart said he'll decide Hutchinson's status after speaking with the staff. Livestrong Sporting Park is Sporting Kansas City's new stadium. Should there be a goal in the Canada-Panama game, it would be the first scored in competitive action at the stadium as the first game there between Kansas City and Chicago last week ended in a 0-0 tie. This will be a very exciting encounter to watch as Panama can be taken lightly. Canada may have the edge in certain positions, but it’s Panama that has some serious momentum coming into his game. If they can maintain that momentum and get the win, it would be another excellent victory. Play on Panama
