On Tuesday March 30 the UEFA Champions League will see its first clash between French teams when the Olympique Lyonnais faces the Girondins de Bordeaux in the first leg of the quarter-finals. Manchester, on the other hand, has been perfect on the road. With a 2-3 victory over Milan AC, United claimed its fourth road victory and the completed the job with a 4-0 at Old Trafford. However, the last English team to beat the Bayern in Munich was Norwich City FC in 1994. The Bayern is 5-5 in two-legged ties in European competitions against British opponents, while Manchester is 2-3 facing German teams, those three losses coming in their last three ties. Those contests between German and English teams are usually very physical, hard-fought games. Manchester will try to keep a perfect record on the road, while the Bayern will try to erase the memory of the 1999 UEFA Champion League final when United famously broke Bayern hearts with extra-time goals from substitutes Teddy Sheringham and Ole Gunnar Solskjaer after the Germans had led for 84 minutes.
