Inter Milan Boss Mourinho Not Happy In Italy's Serie A
Inter Milan Boss Mourinho Not Happy In Italy's Serie AFor better or worse, Inter Milan manager Jose Mourinho is never one to mince words. The former Chelsea coach wins everywhere he goes, but his outspoken style and flamboyant personality have frequently put him at odds with league officials and his own team’s management. In an interview with Sky Sports, Mourinho expressed his dissatisfaction with his current situation opening speculation that he may be looking to return to England’s Premier League this offseason.

Inter Milan has been at the top of the Serie A table for most of the season, but after a 2-1 loss to AS Roma this weekend have seen their lead dwindle to a single point. On deck for Mourinho’s team is a Champions League quarterfinal date with CSKA Moscow—many Italian soccer pundits have suggested that winning this competition is the reason that Mourinho was hired by Milan in the first place.

In his typical straightforward style, Mourinho made clear that his issue is with the Italian football hierarchy and not Inter Milan:

“I always speak in a very honest way and if I do it about Serie A I will be suspended. My situation is clear. I am very happy at Inter, I am not happy in Italian football.”

Asked to give a reason for his unhappiness he responded:

"Because I don't like it and they don't like me. Simple.''

This isn’t his first critique of Italy’s football oversight body. After a 2-0 win against AC Milan earlier this season he all but claimed the fix was in, noting:

"Everything was done for us not to win. I've realised they won't let us wrap up the championship early.”

Mourinho was fined 16,000 Euros (just over $21,000 US) for the remarks, with Serie A referees threatening to go on strike unless a severe penalty was assessed.

Mourinho’s personality makes him a handful for any club to deal with, but his track record of success is unquestionable. He transformed Chelsea into an unrivaled powerhouse in England’s Premier League, but was sent packing after a disagreement with new team owner Roman Abramovich in 2007. While he’s often butted heads with league and team officials, his candor and winning ways have made him very popular with fans and players wherever he’s worked.
