Barcelona dominated Arsenal in London from the get go, and capitalized on their stellar display with a goal from Zlatan Ibrahimovic less than 60 seconds into the second half. Ibrahimovic doubled the Spanish side’s advantage with another goal 13 minutes later.

However, Barcelona squandered what looked like a decisive lead going into the second leg. On the 69th minute Arsenal’s Theo Walcott brought the Gunners back into the contest, and five minutes from time they came level when Cses Fàbregas was brought down by Carlos Puyol and scored on the ensuing penalty.

The 2-2 final result leaves the door open for the English team, who will seek a victory in Barcelona and a place in the Champions League semi-finals.

Barcelona will start as favourites but Arsenal will attempt to build on their impressive comeback, and draw confidence from the fact that the Spanish titleholders have not won any of their last five home meetings with English sides.

FC Barcelona will be without striker Ibrahimovic for the second leg, and Arsenal’s captain Fàgregas will miss his return to his original club because of a leg injury.

While Arsenal’s coach Arsène Wenger said that conceding “cheap goals” have given his side a tough task for the second leg, his counterpart Josep Guardiola said his club has played their best football under him in Europe and looked forward to finish the job at Camp Nou.

Arsenal came back from the dead and made it interesting for the second leg. However, Barcelona should secure their spot in the semis on Tuesday.

FC Internazionale Milan will take a 1-0 advantage to PFC CSKA Moskva

CSKA can thank Igor Akinfeev for the minimum loss they suffered against Inter. The Russian goalkeeper denied the Italian side for 65 minutes at San Siro in the first leg until he was finally beaten by a low finish from Diego Milito.

The Nerazzurri threw everything at the visitors late in the match as they tried to turn their advantage into a significant one, only to find Akinfeev at the end of each play.

CSKA have everything to play for at home on Tuesday. However, their main concern resides in the attack as they failed to create any clear scoring opportunities in Milano.

“We have to squeeze the maximum out of the opportunities we create home,” said midfielder Deividas Semberas. “Only then will we have enough chance to progress, because there won’t be many. We’re not Barcelona so we can’t guarantee that we’ll work plenty of openings.”

Inter coach José Mourinho was satisfied with the result: “We had several chances to score again and the game could have ended 3-0 for us. Things went differently, but we won 1-0 and that is an important result…It’s a win and we got the result, so with a goal in the second leg we can be pretty much secure of qualification. In addition we’ll have both Lucio and Thiago Motta back.”

CSKA coach Leonid Slutsky thinks they’ve got a chance: “Unfortunately we did not manage to perform in attack…Anyway the score leaves us a chance to play a better game in Moscow…The 1-0 scoreline is comfortable for the winners because if they score again the other side has to reply with three goals, and if they concede everything just starts from the scratch. But this result keeps us with a chance.”

All four teams have everything to play for on Tuesday, can Arsenal and CSKA produce a surprise eliminating Barcelona or Inter?
