| Real Madrid Routs Bilbao To Keep Pace In La LIGA Race |
Not surprisingly, soccer betting enthusiasts who wanted to back Real Madrid were forced to pay a hefty -900 price with the host team. Takeback on Bilbao was an equally astronomical +2000, with the draw priced at +1200. The final score went OVER the very high total of 4’ goals. Given Madrid’s potent scoring attack in their recent La Liga assignments, such a high total was to be expected. The game was essentially decided in the 22nd minute, when Cristiano Ronaldo scored on a penalty kick resulting from a play that ended with Bilbao defender Fernando Amorebieta being sent off after receiving a red card. Bilbao was able to remain competitive for most of the first half, and actually head to the dressing rooms at the midway break on level terms after Fran Yeste tied the score at 41 minutes. The second half, however, was all Real Madrid who methodically wore down their shorthanded opponent. Gonzalo Higuain scored the eventual game winner at 73 minutes and from that point the host team poured it on. Goals by Sergio Ramos (80 minutes), Karim Benzema (81 minutes) and Marcelo (89 minutes) completed the onslaught and produced the final margin of victory. Despite the fact that Madrid doesn’t control their La Liga championship fate, team manager Manuel Pellegrini is maintaining a positive outlook on the situation: "We have one more match and, although we had a lot of hope riding on the game in Seville, Valladolid have a lot at stake when they visit Barcelona next week," he said. "We will keep up the pressure until the end. "We knew that Barcelona's match against Sevilla would be more complicated than next week's against Valladolid, but you never know what may happen. We need to maintain this spirit and fight until the very end. Hope is the last thing we can lose." Real Madrid has been in exceptional form since the halfway point of the La Liga season, and the win over Bilbao was their 18th win in their last 19 Spanish league games. They maintain a theoretical chance to catch Barcelona for the league title, but the reality of the situation is much direr. Real Madrid travels to play lower division Malaga, while Barcelona will host a Real Valladolid team that is fighting to avoid relegation.

Inter de Milan dethrones the king in his own Kingdome and takes away the opportunity to for another championship and a back to back. Barcelona in appearance dominated the game with an 80/20 possession of the ball and ¾ of the field but in reality Inter was in complete control of the game as they came to Camp Nue with a 2 goal lead. As the minutes passed the Spaniards desperations was evident, they tried everything possible but nothing was enough, they opened the flanks they tried the middle, they press from outside they even tried tricking the ref for a free shot. The Spanish artillery was helpless against the impenetrable Italian wall, it was like the most sophisticated safe in the world, and there was no way to come in.
