BY DAN THE MAN LEACH HOST SPORTS EDGE RADIO SHOW I have always found it strange that there are so many bowl games now after New Years Day as most of them, save the BCS games, are clunkers. This game has a chance though to give us a rare post Jan 1st treat as both these teams run exciting up-tempo offenses. The Miami RedHawks won the MAC conference by beating favorite Northern Illinois after having one of the better regular seasons in program history after many predicted they would only win a handful of games in 2010. Middle Tennessee had their star QB Dwight “Rudolph, Prancer, Dancer” Dasher suspended for the first three games of the season, but when he returned the Blue Raiders were a much better team. They got hot at the end the season going on a three game winning streak including a win over Sun Belt champ Florida International, to become bowl eligible. Both these teams can score in bunches , but have defenses that can leave a lot to be desired. Miami is the deeper and more talented team , but has had issues with consistency. In their four losses this season they were blown out. PREDICTION(BASED ON A 1-10 NEW YEARS BABY RATTLER SCALE) 6.5 RATTLER’S ON THE REDHAWKS- This should be a close game throughout and expect to see a lot of scoring. The RedHawks defense was much better in the second half of the year allwoing more than 21 points only once in a loss to Ohio. Middle Tennessee will have its moments and has the ability to take over with its running game .The RedHawks though seem to be a team of destiny this year as after finishing 1-11 last year they have gone 9-4 and won a conference title this season. The good feelings for the Hawks will continue in one of the biggest wins in program history.
