World Cup Draw PreviewThe World’s biggest singular sporting event takes a step closer to reality on Friday as the 2010 World Cup in South Africa draw is announced. The Cup doesn’t start until June of next year,190 days away, but the draw will go a long way in telling which sides have the best chance at getting through to the Knockout Stage and on to victory. More so than in most other sports that have similar tournaments to decide a champion, a club’s draw is an extremely important factor on how their chances fare of advancing from the group stage is regardless of how good a team actually is. If you are in a group with three other teams that are capable of being you, trouble can and often does ensue.

BEST BETS TO WIN IT ALL (current betphoenix.com odds in bold)

USA- +$9000- While it will be extremely tough for the Red, White, and Blue to win it all , this is a side that has come a long way since 2006 and has the talent and desire to make a serious run in this tournament. The best bet is to take the US to make it out of the Group Stage, but for those wily gamblers like myself, why not throw some cash down at www.betphoenix.com on the Americans to make a historic run and “Celebrate”, Kool and the Gang style this summer. The Americans could not have gotten a better draw, opening up against the Motherland in England as well as Algeria and Slovenia.

5-ITALY+$1400 -Defense is the name of the game for the Azzurri. The defending champs don;t have a terrible draw with Paraguay, New Zealand, and Slovakia , but repeating as Cup champs back-to-back might be the hardest thing to do in all of sports.

4-ARGENTINA +$1000- Always a strong showing from the Albicelestes and with coach and former Cup legend Diego Maradona at the helm anything is possible. Can anyone say “Hand of God” Part 2:) Argentina have one of the tougher groups with fast as "Greece Lighting", Nigeria, and always tough South Korea.

3-ENGLAND +$650 Is this finally the year for The Three Lions to win it all? The talent in great on this side, but they always seem to come up short when it counts most. Coach Fabio Capello has made a difference since he took over and if everyone stays healthy, and out of the bars, this is the best chance England has had to win the Cup in over 20 years. You know the scallywaggers weren;t happy when they saw they would be opening up against their little sisters the Americans and that opening game could spell doom or glory for either side as far as group C goes.

2-BRAZIL +$500- Perpetually one of the best teams ion the World, you can never sleep on The Canarinho and they look as good as they have in years heading into Cup 2010. The only team to play in every World Cup and are the dual favorite with Spain to win their record sixth title. The only bad news is that in 2010 they have the distinction of playing ion the "Group of Death" with the mysterious North Koreans, Ivory Coast, and an extremely tough Portugal squad.

1-SPAIN+$500 The Red Fury have endless talent, speed, and depth and are right with Brazil as the team to beat in World Cup 2010. Spain has endured Cup heartbreak in recent years, but with maybe the easiest group consisting of the Swiss, Honduras, and Chile, the road is set up well for a big run in 2010.
