One of the better match-up’s of the bowl season can be seen in the Poinsettia Bowl, which features two teams that at times this season looked like world beaters. The status of Cal RB Jahvid Best, who made a run at the Heisman early in the season until he got hurt, will be a major factor. If Best plays Cal will have a huge advantage and if not Utah will have a great shot at the nations longest winning streak in the postseason with nine straight bowl wins if they are able to beat the Bears. 2.8 MUGS OF EGG NOG ON CALIFORNIA(If RB Jahvid Best plays) HAWAII BOWL THURSDAY DEC 24TH 8PM EST TV ESPN SMU(7-5) VS NEVADA(8-4) (CURRENT BETPHOENIX.COM LINE) NEVADA -14 TOTAL 73(REALLY?-LOL) SMU head coach June Junes returns to the Island where he turned Hawaii into a solid program before leaving to try to bring back the Mustangs from the dead. SMU won four of their last five games to make it to a bowl game in just Jones second season after being awful for the decade before he arrived. Nevada is one of the nations top offenses and this game should be a touchdown fest, but the 73 total is a little absurd as SMU can actually play some defense. Look for this to be a much closer game than the experts think. 3.5 MUGS OF EGG NOG ON SMU LITTLE CAESARS BOWL SATURDAY DEC 26TH 1PM EST TV ESPN OHIO(9-4) VS MARSHALL(6-6) (CURRENT BETPHOENIX.COM LINE) OHIO -3 TOTAL 49.5 I hate to say it hailing from Detroit myself, but this might be the worst game of the entire bowl season as I don’t even think Marshall deserves to be in a bowl and Ohio might be one of the top three teams in the MAC this season, but that is definitely not saying much. AT least there will be a ton of tasty pizza for all the fans in attendance. 4 MUGS OF EGG NOG ON OHIO MEINEKE CAR CAR BOWL SATURDAY DEC 26TH 4:30 PM EST TV ESPN NORTH CAROLINA(8-4) VS PITTSBURGH(9-3) (CURRENT BETPHOENIX.COM LINE) PITT -3 TOTAL 45 This should be a slugfest featuring two teams that love to play hard nosed defense and are capable of huge plays on offense. Pitt has a great end of the season until the heartbreaker against Cinci, that they should have probable won. North Carolina at time this season played some amazing football , but had to many breakdowns against good teams on defense to trust them in this spot. Pitt freshman RB Dion Lewis. Who finished third nationally in rushing yards per game at 136.7 and scored 17 TD’s will be a major factor in this one. 2.9 MUGS OF EGG NOG ON PITTSBURGH EMERALD BOWL SATURDAY DEC 26TH 8PM EST TV ESPN USC(8-4) VS BOSTON COLLEGE(8-4) (CURRENT BETPHOENIX.COM LINE) USC -8.5 TOTAL 44 At the beginning of the season if you told me USC would be playing in the Emerald Nuts Bowl, I would have for one laughed at you, and two sent you to a sports psychologist. I obviously would have been way off as the Trojans, a pre-season national title favorite, finished 6th in the PAC 10. That’s like the Cleveland Browns starting 0-6 and then winning the Super Bowl for a fun comparison. Boston College on the other hand exceeded expectations in winning eight games and will by far be the more excited team to be playing in this game. Look for BC RB Montell Harris , who rushed for 1,355 yards this season , to have a huge day against a overrated and inexperienced Trojan defense. 2.5 MUGS OF EGG NOG ON BOSTON COLLEGE
