Tuesday Morning Quarterback
Tuesday Morning QuarterbackTHINGS WE LEARNED-
Even with backups the San Diego Super Chargers are unreal. With the way the Colts have been playing as of late and the big injury to Wes Welker , could they be the favorite to go to the Super Bowl from the AFC? This team has the ultimate confidence in itself and like a late night trip to Taco Bell with Jason Dahlquist-(happy B-day), they do it all right. If Phillip “Little Rivers Band” keeps up his high play and the Bolts play the tough defense they have all season long, I don't see how anyone including the Colts can beat them

The Houston Texans are going to make the playoffs next season. You have to feel for a team that finally just got their first winning season since they moved to H town, but was eliminated on the final night of the season with the Jets win over Cinci. Yes the Texans left some wins on the field, but this is a team and organization that does things the right way and I truly believe they will be a contender for years to come with the great defense they have built and the Gary Kubiak offense that has score points in bunches behind Matt “Stump the” Schaub and Andre Johnson. I know it stings now Houston, but great things are on the horizon for you as they are for Key West Shan face Wilson.

Brett Favre is the Bill Hodges of the NFL, he is just incredible. Yes the Vikes have had issues over the last month of the season, but this team is built to win it all and if they get their mojo back I think they are the best overall team in the NFC. The Vikes need to take the week off to gain their confidence back and realize that if they play their best they are going to be very tough to beat. A great man Mike Armit once said “ If you can bowl a 300 while your focused then you can win a Super Bowl”

I am now addicted to 5 Hour Energy Burritos and Kathy Griffin Turtle Wax

THINGS WE STILL WANT TO KNOW

How good are the Dallas Cowgirls really? I mean yes this team looked like the Steel Curtain defense of the 70’s over the past two weeks and has been playing some great football. But this is the same team that at times this season looked like a bad “American Pie” sequel and just don’t give off the aura of invincibility it takes to make waves in the playoffs. If Tony Romo doesn't go to Cabo San Lucas over the next few days and the Dallas D plays like they have been , this team is pretty scary.

How big of trouble are the Colts and Saints in? Both these teams looked unbeatable like Al Pacino’s hair for most of the season, then in the past few weeks they have looked like shades of their former selves. Granted they both rested lots of players after their undefeated seasons went awry, but both these teams just make me uncomfortable going into the playoffs and having that first game at home after the bye week is huge, but if they don't right the ship immediately they could both have early exits in January after many thought this was the hands down Super Bowl 44 match-up.

Are the Cleveland Browns on the upswing? This is a team that looked worse than a Carrot Top movie at times this season, but won four games in a row to end the season for the first time since their first incarnation in Cleveland in 1994. They still have to figure out who their QB is , but this team has heart and a defense that can change games. If they draft well and land some key free agents I would not be shocked……gasp…. If this team is playing in January next season much like The Tins and his fantasy team “Let it Reign”-tough break kid

Have you ever wondered what happens to the oranges that get frozen in Florida during an Arctic freeze? I mean can they be unthawed and shipped to grocery stores around the country. Are they sent as a part of championship fruit baskets to Throb Owczarski’s fantasy team? Or do they get laid to rest in Orangengton National Cemetery, a sad place to visit , but one that will leave a lasting impression.

TOP 5 TEAMS FOR NEXT SEASON THAT DID NOT MAKE THE PLAYOFF’S THIS SEASON

5-DETROIT LIONS_ Before you laugh at my undying love for the Lions think about this. They likely will get one of the best defensive players in recent draft history, they have a rookie stud QB who will only get better , and coach Jim “may the Schwartz be with you” is laying a great foundation. don't be surprised if this teams turns a lot of heads next year. Hey a boy is allowed to dream right?

4-MIAMI DOLPHINS- The Fins felt they were a playoff team this year and very well could have been , but they found out they have a bright future with QB Chad Henne and save a devastating injury to all world RB Ronnie Brown , this team could have made a postseason run. In 2010 look for great things in South Florida

3-ATLANTA FALCONS - The injury to QB Matt Ryan and RB Michael “Bunson Burner” Turner were killer, but this team did make strides in 2009. Look for the defense only to get better in 2010 and for this team to make a deep run in January.

2-PITTSBURGH STEELERS- The defending champs became only the 12th Super Bowl winner from the previous year to miss the playoffs and injuries again were a key to their slide. The bottom line though is if all-world safety Troy Palamalu played the last half of the season , they would be in the playoffs and were capable of winning it all. In 2010 the Steelers will be back and will be one of the favorites to win Super Bowl 45.

1-HOUSTON TEXANS- This is a team that was by far the best to not make the playoffs this season. Houston probably should have made the postseason save some of their lat game meltdown losses in games they really should have won. That being said the future is very bright for the Texans and I have been superbly impressed by the job that head coach Gary Kubiak and the front office have done in putting together this team. It killed me to see them miss the playoffs this year, but next year there is no doubt that the Texans will be in the postseason and could make a run at the title.

EARLY LOOK AT WILDCARD WEEKEND-SAT GAMES (CURRENT BET PHOENIX.COM LINES AS OF TUESDAY MORNING) Rated on a 1-5 Bagel and Locks system

NEW YORK JETS AND CINCINNATI BENGALS 4:30 PM SAT NBC(BENGALS-3 Total 34.5) -

Can you say weekend of rematches? This is one of three week 17 playoff rematches during wildcard weekend and in all of them we could see different results from what happened on the last day of the regular season. Yes the Bengals looked like an abomination in the last game at Giants Stadium going to in flames to the Jets and having a grand total of zero passing yards. I think my father the great Dr Harold Leach , former Country Day all-star QB, could have thrown for at least 100 yards. You Can't read to much into this game as the Bengals really had nothing to play for and the Jets had to win to get into the postseason. The tables will be turned as these teams head to Cinci and even though the Bengals have had their struggles late in the season they are a different team at home and have the offense in decent weather conditions to dominate. Yes the Jets have a chance to win here on the road , but it is extremely tough to beat a team two weeks in a row , especially when you have to travel to their home field now. The Bengals will come to play and you will see a completely different team and effort on Saturday.

Play - 3.5 Bagels on CINCI

PHILADELPHIA EAGLES AT DALLAS COWGIRLS 8PM SAT NBC-(COWGIRLS-4 Total 45) -
Yet another Wildcard Weekend rematch and this one is the most intriguing of them all. The Eagles looked like a lump of coal in Big D on Sunday and they didn't have the excuse of not having anything to play for. If they would have beaten Dallas they would be hosting this game instead of having to stay in Dallas for it and could not have looked worse. That being said the Eagles were probably the hottest team in the NFL before this game and have all the weapons on both sides of the ball to beat anyone in the league and throttle them in the process. The Cowboys have looked great in recent weeks, but how much can you really trust a team that seems to blow their proverbial wad in big games this season until week 17. I just see to many ways the Eagles can win this game and too many issues the Cowboys have in a one and done scenario. The likelihood of the Eagles laying an egg two weeks in a row is almost null and if they can realize that catching perfectly thrown balls by D McNabb is a good thing, all should be good in Green and White.

Play - 4.6 Bagels(with Mike “Nothing but the Nuts Roby“ Avocado and Parslay Schmear) on the EAGLES
