Bubble WatchEntertainment's biggest night of the year is upon us and many don’t realize there is some money to be made betting on those sweet little statues. I am going to take a look at some of the close races and the best long shots to win on Oscar Night. So get the popcorn ready, your Vera Wang red gown, and enjoy the show and win some money while your at it.

BEST PICTURE(CURRENT BETPHOENIX.COM LINE IN BOLD)

“THE HURT LOCKER “ -$125 - A movie that unfortunately many did not see due to its much smaller release over the summer than Avatar’s was, this is one of the most well put together and executed movies in the past 20 years and other than some idiotic illegal campaigning by one of its producers, “The Hurt Locker” has basically won all the major Pre-Oscar Awards.

“AVATAR” +$110 - Truly one of the most groundbreaking movies of all-time and already has smashed box office records, which the Academy loves, “Avatar” probably should win this award, but the momentum has all been with “The Hurt Locker” over the past month. Something just tells me that in one of the closest Best Picture races ever, the biggest movie of all-time will take home the statute.

PICK- “AVATAR”

BEST DIRECTOR

JAMES CAMERON- “AVATAR” +$330- Cameron was masterful in putting together “Avatar” over what seemed to be 15 years and in any other year would likely take home this award, but with the fact his ex wife crafted a truly phenomenal and heart pounding movie about the Iraq War that critics actually loved, I am sure he will try his best to be happy for her when she wins

KATHRYN BIGELOW-”THE HURT LOCKER” -$500- Only the third female to ever be nominated for a Best Director Oscar and there is little doubt she will be the first to win it,

PICK- KATHRYN BIGELOW

BEST ACTRESS

SANDRA BULLOCK-“BLINDSIDE” -$175 - She is Hollywood’s darling and is the favorite to win here and has gained some momentum as of late as this could be her best chance to win an Oscar during her career.

MERYL STREEP - “JULIE AND JULIA” +$200- Many do feel that her performance was better than Bullock’s , but the fact she is seemingly nominated every year and that this might be Bullock’s best chance for an Oscar will make it tough for Streep to win this year,

PICK- SANDRA BULLOCK

BEST UPSET VALUE-

“INGLORIOUS BASTERDS” +$1400- The chance that “Basterds” wins going against the behemoths in “The Hurt Locker” and “Avatar” might not be great , but if you think back to 1998 when “Shakespeare in Love” pulled off a shocker against "Saving Private Ryan" , which was considered a huge favorite, anything can and does happen on Oscar Night!!
