(CHAMPIONSHIP GAME ON CBS) SITE-LOS ANGELES CONTENDERS(CURRENT BET PHOENIX.COM LINE ON BOLD) CALIFORNIA(+$160) In a very down year for the Pac-10 , which is the biggest understatement since critics hailed “Waterworld” as the greatest movie of all-time. Cal has had a nice year and is the favorite to win this tourney. That being said the Pac-10 is so awfully bad overall as a conference that a team as bad as Oregon State could somehow make a run and win it all. The Bears though have the most talent and depth to win this tourney and come in hot winning seven of their last eight games. WASHINGTON(+$200) The Huskies come in on a roll winning five of their last six and with a player like Quincy Poindexter who can score at will and leads the team in rebounding as well, they will be tough to beat. The question is can they play good defense over the entire tournament run as that has been their achilles heel all season long. ARIZONA STATE(+$350) Herb Sendek’s team has been getting hot at the perfect time as they head to LA with high expectations of playing their way into the NCAA Tourney. The Sun Devils won six of their last seven to end the regular season and are on a collision course to play Washington in the semi-finals in what would basically work as a play in game to the Big Dance. LONG SHOTS WITH A CHANCE TO PULL IT OFF ARIZONA(+$650) The Wildcats probably are not going to win this tourney, but with the way the Pac-10 has played out this year you simply can’t completely count them out. They come in on a three game winning streak and stud forward Derrick Williams is capable of taking over a game. UCLA(+$650) A couple months ago it would have been as bad as a Carrot Top joke to say the Bruins had a chance to win this tourney, but with their I,proved play late in the season this team that once was the laughing stock of major conference college basketball has a hope and a prayer to make some noise in La La Land. PICK- WASHINGTON- Truly one of the toughest conference tourneys to predict , but the Huskies have everything you need to win a conference tourney. Depth, great scoring ability, and a winning edge late in games. This should be a lot of fun to watch , but in the end the Huskies should be able to fend off challenges from ASU and Cal and take the embarrassingly possible one bid for the Pac-10 this season.
