Midwest Region Preview Big East
Midwest Region Preview Big EastOver the next few days I am going to take a look at each region the NCAA Tournament, who has the best chance to get to Indy, and some sleepers to keep and eye on as we count down the hours till the madness begins.
MIDWEST- To say this region is stacked is an under statement. Eight of the 16 teams in this region are outright and conference tournament champions and the fact the Ohio State, Georgetown, Michigan State, and overall number one seed Kansas are in the Midwest does not bode well for any team looking to make a deep run.

CONTENDERS

KANSAS-1 SEED(BIG 12 REGULAR SEASON AND TOURNEY CHAMPS) The Jayhawks are simply playing the best basketball in the country leading up to the Dance. With their inside-outside game with guard Sherron “Tom” Collins and center Cole Aldrige this team can score at will and play defense with the best of them. Look for Kansas to be in the regional final without much trouble.

OHIO STATE-2 SEED(BIG 10 REGULAR SEASON AND TOURNEY CHAMPS) The Buckeyes are peaking at the right time and when you have a player like Evan Turner on your team , who can hit a shot from the stands if he needs to, the scarlet and gray have high hopes for this years tournament. The Buckeyes should be in the regional final against Kansas, but if they play Georgetown in the sweet sixteen, there could be some trouble.

GEORGETOWN-3-SEED(BIG EAST AT LARGE) The Hoyas ended the Big East conference tourney inches away from sending the title game into overtime. Even though they lost a classic final to West Virginia, the Hoyas were on fire the entire tourney and took down top seed Syracuse on the way. This team led by all-word center Greg Monroe , has the ability to make a deep run in this bracket and it would not be a shock if you seem them finding their way to Indianapolis.

SLEEPERS TO KEEP AN EYE ON

SAN DIEGO STATE-11 SEED (MOUNTAIN WEST TOURNEY CHAMPS) Steve Fisher has brought the Aztecs to the tourney three times in his six years at the help and this team has the ability to score in bunches and take over games late. Their first round match-up with the Tennessee Volunteers sets up perfectly for the upset.

HOUSTON-13 SEED(CONFERENCE USA TOURNEY CHAMPS) “Houston we don’t have a problem”, with the way you have played as of late running through the Conference USA tourney with confidence and abandon. Tom Penders bunch may be seeded low , but could make some big trouble for Maryland in their first round game.
