| NCAA Sweet Sixteen Preview(Thursday Games) Part2 |
How can you not love the Big Red of Cornell after their dismantling of one of the Big Ten’s best in Wisconsin? This team knows no fear and now gets the team that is probably playing the best of anyone right now in the tourney. Yes it might be hard to make a case for a team named after very tasty gum to take down the Wildcats, but Cornell can beat you from anywhere on the court and with stud big man Jeff “Larry” Foote and do-everything guard Louis “Chip n” Dale, this team can take over a game quickly. Kentucky though counters with two of the best players in the country in DeMarcus “Kissing” Cousins and John” Another Brick in the” Wall, both freshman, and both world beaters already. The Cats’ have looked sensational thus far and it is going to be tough for Cornell to hang with them athletically. That being said this Cornell team just keeps showing us that no matter how much we don't believe in them they believe in themselves and while I think a win here for the Big Red is unlikely I can see this game going down to the final minuets with another classic finish in a tourney filled with them thus far. PICK -CORNELL +8.5 WEST REGION 6-XAVIER(26-8) VS 2-KANSAS STATE(28-7) 9:35 PM EST KANSAS STATE -4.5 TOTAL 153.5 Xavier is definitely a surprise to some to be here and have done it with superior shooting and defense and an edge that can put a scare into any team in the tournament. Kansas State is in their first Sweet Sixteen since 1988 and at times has looked just as good as any team in The Dance. This game will be all about tempo as K-State is going to want to run and gun and Xavier can play that way, but would rather have the action a little more under control so they can set up their viscous motion offense. Look for Denis Clemente to be large again for the Cats’ and for team scoring leader Jacob’s “Ladder” Pullman to continue his early round scoring dominance. For Xavier to win this game they will need a huge game from team and scoring leader Jordan Crawford who truly has become the focal point for the Musketeers and they will need to play the best defense they have all year. I think Xavier will give their best effort , but K-State will just be too much in the end with their depth and ability to score in bunches. PICK-KANSAS STATE -4.5
