| NIT Final Preview |
Well the title for the 66th best team in college basketball is on the line at MSG on Thursday night and it should be a dandy. Yes I am somewhat kidding, but with all this talk of the NCAA Tournament expanding to 96 teams, which would mean the NIT being basically combined with the regular NCAA tourney, we better enjoy it while we still have it Many of you were too young to remember, but back in the early days of college basketball the Nit Championship was almost as if not equally as important as the regular NCAA tourney crown and now it is basically relegated to a wasteland of could-have-been’s that didn't make the Big Dance and programs on the rise and if what they are saying as true, this might be the end of an era. To the game now as both Dayton and North Carolina are very excited to be playing for the title and considering how weird it is for Carolina to even be in the Nit after winning the NCAA tourney last year, they have handled this second tier tourney with grace and passion. Dayton though has looked simply unstoppable and yes UNC got a miracle non-call against Rhode Island to get here and seemingly found every way possible to get to the title game. Dayton simply just crushed their opponents and looked amazing doing it. UNC has had at least nine lives in the NIT this year, but tonight that will come to a crashing halt as the Flyers led by sizzling star Chris Wright “Stuff” have way more than enough to end the Heels impressive run through the Nit. Pick-(rated on a 1-5 Passover Macaroon scale) 4.6 MACRAOON’S ON DAYTON
