Novak Djokovic makes a run at No. 1 at the ATP Sony Ericsson Open in Miami, Florida
Novak Djokovic makes a run at No. 1 at the ATP Sony Ericsson Open in Miami, FloridaTennis is back in swing this week when all of the sports best players gather to play the ATP Sony Ericsson Open in Miami, Florida. This event is filled with talented.

This 12 day event brings all the top players in the world back into action, but this time, in the ATP draw, there is a change to the player’s prominence and how well they are playing.

The top of the men’s tennis rankings have changed drastically. After beating Rafael Nadal in the final at Indian Wells on Sunday, Serbian star Novak Djokovic has pushed Roger Federer down to World Number three. The usual finals dream matchup of Nadal v Federer will be missed since there is a change to the men’s game.

That also means there could be battle at the end of year for the No. 1 spot in the World’s Tennis Rankings. Djokovic can make a run in Miami and put a great pressure on Nadal to keep his hold on the top spot in the world.

Djokovic is playing like the best player in the world and blowing through tournaments as he has won three titles along the way to include the Australian Open. The knock on Djokovic is that he struggled among the elite in the tennis world, to include Nadal, and that could not be put behind him with his latest victory.

For the Sony Ericsson Open in Miami, Djokovic is in the same quarter as world number five, Andy Murray. In the semifinal, he would likely come up against Robin Soderling, who is currently the fourth seed and this makes a run at the finals a distinct possibility.

This sets up a potential matchup between Nadal and Djokovic, as they attempt to become the best player currently on the tour in men’s tennis.
