GRAN SLAM TENNIS AT BetPhoenix.com

Sunday July 5 Last Day,

A few clouds and a lot of sun in Wimbledon for the Men’s Singles Final.

Roger Federer faces Andy Roddick in their third match-up in a Wimbledon Final.Federer won the previous two in 2004-2005,he is playing in his 7th straight final and for his 6th title. He is also trying to regain the # 1 spot in the world and to get his 15th Gran Slam Title.

AND WHAT A FINAL IT WAS !!

It was a pretty even first set up to 5-5 when Federer squandered 4 breakpoints on Roddick’s serve,2 of them which he challenged,on his forehand. He made 2 more mistakes on the same side in the next game to allow Roddick to break his serve and take the 1st set 7-5.

No breaks of serve in the 2nd set, which leads to a tie break and Andy Rodddick has a 6-2 advantage,WHAT’S GOING ON ? He fails to convert any of 4 sets points and Federer comes back from the dead as he levels the match one set all.

Same thing in the 3rd set as they get to 6-6 for the second tie break in a row.”Deja vu” as Federer takes a 6-2 lead only to see Roddick come back to 6-5 but this time no mistake from Roger who takes a 2 sets to 1 lead.

You could think that Roddick would be crushed by the turn of events, instead he showed great mental strength in the 4th set, broke Federer’s serve in the 4th game to win 6-3 and force a 5th definitive one.

Now here is an interesting situation: there is no tie break in the 5th set in The Championships so Federer has to break Roddick’s serve at some point if he is to win his 6th title and he hasn’t been able to do it in the 4 previous sets.Meanwhile Andy got 2 breaks on Roger’s serve so,WHO’S FAVORITE?

Well, with Federer serving first, the pressure on Roddick must have been tremendous from 4-5 on as he was serving everytime to stay in the match. He responded superbly and even got 2 breakpoints on Roger’s serve which he didn’t convert. Federer was frowing many unforced errors which helped Roddick to hold but mostly both players were firing big serves whenever it was getting close.

To cut that epic story short it took 30 GAMES in the last set,at 15-14, for Roger Federer to break Roddick’s serve for the first time in this incredible Final and win the Title 5-7,7-6,7-6,3-6,16-14.

ROGER FEDERER ANSWERED “PRESENT” ONE MORE TIME AT HIS MEETING WITH HISTORY He is now the only tennis player with 15 Gran Slam Titles and has reclaimed the # 1 ranking of the world.

WHAT A YEAR FOR THE GREATEST OF ALL TIMES !!

HAIL ROGER !!
