WOMEN’s SINGLES No 1 seed Serena Williams had no trouble getting through her second-round match, defeating Petra Kvitiova (CZE) 6-2, 6-1 ,while her sister Venus had to work a little harder in the second set to beat Austrian Sybille Bammer 6-2, 7-5. Dane No 4 seed Caroline Wozniacki and 7-seed Victoria Azarenka won their respective contests also in straight sets. Argentine Gisela Dulko brought the biggest upset on the top of the draw defeating 29-seed Serb Ana Ivanovic in three hard-fought sets 6-7, 7-5, 6-4.Dulko will face next Russian 9-seed Vera Zvoraneva,who won her match against Benesova 6-0,6-3. Australia’s 13-seed Samantha Stosur will meet Italian AlbertaBrianti who surprisingly defeated Germany’s 21 -seed Sabina Lisicki in 3 sets.The Aussies will follow that match with great passion,as Stosur is their best hope for a deep run in the Women’s Singles tournament.
