| ATP World Tour Djokovic walks to semi-final in Rotterdam |
Monfils (FRA) is 0-2 overall against Russian Youzhny, who is the only man left to have won this tournament (2007). That’s going to be some exciting contest. On the bottom of the draw, No 2 Russian Nikolay Davydenko reached the quarter-finals after defeating Marcos Baghdatis 6-3, 6-2 in the second round. Davydenko has only lost one match this season -in the semi-finals of the Australian to Roger Federer- and is favorite to go even further in Rotterdam as he takes-a 5-1 head-to-head lead into his match against Jurgen Metzer (AUT). No 3 seed Sweden’s Robin Soderling has a 3-2 overall lead over Frenchman Julien Benneteau, his opponent for a spot in the semis. Unless Metzer or Benneteau pull an upset, we’re heading for a thrilling Davydenko vs Soderling semi-final. BRASIL OPEN Costa do Sauipe No 1 seed and 2007 runner-up Spain’s Juan Carlos Ferrero reached the QFs after defeating Chili’s Nicolas Massu in three hard-fought sets. The Spaniard faces wild-card Brazilian Carlos Berlocq for a place in the semis. At the bottom of the draw, Russian 4-seed Igor Andreev and 6-seed Pablo Cuevas from Uruguay both survived tough three-set matches in their second round. Their clash in QFs shouldn’t be any easier for the eventual winner. The other two quarter-finals will be determine Friday, local star 3-seed and last year’s finalist Brazilian Thomaz Bellucci faces Spain’s Daniel Gimeno-Traver for one of the spots in their first meeting.
