WIMBLEDON 2OO9 The draw has been published,seeded#1 Rafael Nadal(if he plays) would potentially play against#3 Andy Murray in the semi-final on the top half and seeded #2 Roger Federer could meet #4 Novak Djokovic at the same stage on the bottom half.

That could happen in a perfect tennis world(for the top 4 players).

However Nadal is not a 100% and would have to negotiate a tough match in quarter final with Andy Roddick providing they both get there. Murray could face the Russian Marat Safin(semi finalist last year) in the round of 16 and then the frenchman Gilles Simon or maybe the Chilian Fernando Gonzalez in quarter-finals.

Federer should not have much trouble to reach the quarter-finals where he could face Fernando Verdasco(Spain) or Jo-Wilfried Tsonga(France). There is the possibility of a rematch of the Roland Garros Final in the round of 16 with the Swede Robin Soderling now ranked #12 in the world. It will be interesting to se how Nadal’s executionner handles himself after his fantastic tournament in Paris. The road to the quarter-finals looks quite open for Djokovic but then his potential opponent, the Argentine Juan Martin del Potro could prove to be a difficult obstacle to overcome.Del Potro is a much improved player since last year and his flat deep balls can take him a long way on the Wimbledon grass. The alternative could be the rising star from Croatia Marin Cilic, another dangerous adversary.

With the doubts concerning Nadal’s condition I will look for Roddick to have a very good tournament, his huge serve will be a major factor on grass. He could match his best result,semi-final in 2003,or who knows....go all the way.

Besides del Potro,Tsonga looks like a potential troublemaker on that surface if he can pass the test against the Spaniard Verdasco.

For those scenarios to take place we will need the cooperation of many good players who all are there to win and upset all predictions. That’s their job and tere is nothing better than a few upsets to make a tournament fascinating.Look back to the last Gran Slam in Paris, was it not fun?
